Summer learning has also been referred to as "summer school."


Elementary Boost Camp

K-6th 

The Elementary Summer Boost Camp provides focused intervention for qualifying students for each grade level K-6. Students must be currently enrolled in Boise Public Schools. Students qualify with consistent below-grade level scores in reading. Students will be welcomed to an environment that builds on their current knowledge of literacy, they will experience math enrichment and participate in extracurricular activities.


REGISTRATION: School teams nominate students based on grade level performance. School teams will invite students who qualify at the end of 3rd quarter. Nomination letters will be included with student report cards.


DATE: June 17th- July 19th, 2024  No School on July 4th  & 5th


TIME: 9:00-12:45


TRANSPORTATION: Available from your child’s home school.

Get Ready for Kindergarten! 

This program is for incoming students registered for Kindergarten in the Boise School District.  Students qualify based on the screener given at Kindergarten Registration. Get Ready for Kindergarten provides incoming Kindergarten students with the opportunity to gain important skills that will help them thrive in a formal school setting. We strive to provide a supportive and nurturing environment to help children build self-confidence, independence and resilience.

Foundations for Success Junior High 7th and 8th Grade Students 

Boise School District will offer a Junior High Alternative Summer Program for eligible at-risk students in 7th through 8th grades.  This summer program will offer students an opportunity to develop and strengthen their math and language usage skills. There is no tuition cost for the program. Contact your student's school to see if he/she qualifies for this program. This program is only available for students who have been enrolled in Boise School District for the 23-24 school year.

English Enrichment for 7th-8th Grade Students 

Boise School District offers a summer learning opportunity for multilingual learners who: 

  • are enrolled Enrolled in 7th-8th grade in Boise School District during the 2023-2024 School Year
  • has entered the country after 8/31/22
  • demonstrates English proficiency at a level <2.5 in reading or writing on their last WIDA screener or ACCESS test.

Traditional Secondary Summer Program

The Traditional Secondary Summer School offers a variety of online classes for Boise School District students entering grades 7-12. This program has two 4-week long semesters and students can take up to two classes each semester. Teachers will have in-person office hours at Borah High School (day and time to be determined) to support students with online learning. Transportation is not provided.  Online courses will be delivered through a blend of FuelEd curriculum and supplemented with teacher-generated lessons. Students will access learning from their homes. It is important to know that Fuel Ed has limited to no access internationally.  Once a course is full your child will be added to a waiting list. Extensions for completing coursework beyond the end date of the course are not an option. 

Registration will open on March 1st. Please contact your current home school counselor for registration information and enrollment forms.


GRADUATION: The summer graduation ceremony for seniors will be held on July 23rd at 6:30 pm at Borah High School Auditorium.

Borah Highschool


Alternative High School Summer Program

The Alternative High School summer program is for students in grades 9-12. This program has two 4-week semesters. Classes may be taken for credit recovery or course advancement. The Summer Alternative High School classes are supported by Boise School District teachers who will use the Boise School District curriculum. Students will access learning while attending in-person classes five days per week. Courses will be offered to support the instructional needs of eligible at-risk youth including courses for English, Mathematics, History, Health, PE, Economics, Speech and Critical Literacy. Students enrolled in this program must meet the “At- Risk” State qualifications.

Multilingual students who have been in the country less than 2 years and have a proficiency less than 2.5 on the ACCESS assessment are also able to attend this program. 


Please reach out to your high school counselor for registration. The counselors will be submitting the registration online so we are able to ensure all students have registered for the courses that they need to complete.

Extended School Year Program (ESY)

Boise School District will offer an Extended School Year Program for qualified Boise School District students during the 2024 Summer session. 


Student qualification for the Extended School Year Program is determined by the IEP team for each child at their regular Boise School District School during the regular school year.


Non-Boise School District students are not able to attend the Boise School District's ESY program.
